Looms have been around for a number of years for a variety of items such as blankets, hanging artwork, belts and jewelry. The size of the loom will affect which projects you can work on. I have used looms in the creation of jewelry projects, such as bracelets, and have found that they cut out a lot of time, yet provide consistent and beautiful results.

Launched in 2005, Poetic License is a fairly new footwear company, that has already made a name for itself in the fashion industry due to its great variety of funky and trendy footwear. I really love their website because it looks like an online version of a cute vintage shop. Just like their website, their footwear collections are vintage-inspired.

CFDA nominee and NYU grad Pamela Love is well on her way to becoming a staple in the New York accessories world. Her focus wasn’t always on jewelry though, at NYU’s Tisch , Love majored in film production with a concentration in art and public policy. In the years after her graduation she worked as an artist’s assistant and art director/stylist for photo shoots, music videos and films. Throughout her projects she always met difficulties in finding jewelry that suited her taste. Sick of frustration, Love turned to her own creativity and began making her own pieces in 2006.

When most people think of green stones, they naturally picture the emerald. But peridot, unique in it’s olive green hue, is distinct from the emerald, and the jewel that crowns the month of August.

Originally discovered in Egypt, peridot has been a beloved gemstone since the days of the Romans. Thanks to them, this greenish-gold gem gained the nickname ‘emerald of the night.’ In the Bible, peridot is referred to as ‘chrysolite’ and is mentioned in Revelation 21 as the seventh stone adorning the walls of the New Jerusalem.
