The November 2011 issue of O, the Oprah Magazine states it best:  “Whatever you call this shade–blue-green or green-blue, peacock, teal, or deep turquoise–it’s showing up everywhere, in fashion, beauty, and home decor. More vibrant than black but just as adaptable, the color of the season is a standout in any setting.”

The September 2011 issue of Real Simple also deems teal “the color of the season”:  “This elegant (and suddenly omnipresent) jewel tone is a brilliant way to update an understated wardrobe, particularly when you pair it with gray, saffron, or violet.”

The September 2011 issue of Glamour proclaims that peacock blue is “fall’s must color,” adding: “Wear with all your neutrals!

Blue-greens are flattering on every skin color, and mesh beautifully with just about any other hue. O creative director Adam Glassman writes: “Peacock-colored jewelry works with any complexion. Wear drop earrings or a collar-grazing necklace to bring warmth to the face and make your eyes pop.”

Blue-greens also work with any color of metal, warm like yellow gold, or cool like white metals. Glassman writes: “Metallics mix fabulously with this shade. Silvers bring out the color’s cool undertones; golds have a rich, dramatic effect.”

Blue-greens also have a psychological effect on the viewer. O Magazine states: “If blue and green are calming colors individually, they’re the picture of serenity when combined.”

The October 2011 issue of Elle pictures the Boucheron “Capriccioli” bracelet watch that combines blue and green stones, along with the turquoise-hued Dior “Bal d’Autrefois” ring and the white “Etoile du Nord” brooch from Chanel.

A current ad from Martin Katz showcases Paraiba tourmaline and diamond earrings from the “Divine Collection.”

Blue-green is also the color of the “Circle of Love” necklace featured in a current Bellarri ad.

A color that is versatile, calming and universally flattering:  keep blue-green in mind this season, and any season, as an excellent addition to a jewelry wardrobe.
